Jobs active for over 90 days are labeled as “expiring” to indicate reduced visibility, such as lower search engine rankings. Over time, this decline can lead to fewer applicants, even when potential candidates are available.
To maximize engagement, we recommend closing expiring jobs and creating new postings with updated details. Refreshing the content helps maintain relevance and improves candidate interest.
Will closing one and opening a new one cost me another job credit?
No. Closing a listing frees the credit immediately, allowing you to create a fresh post at no extra cost.
How do I relaunch a job quickly?
Close the job and then click the "Reopen Job" button. You'll be able to edit the details and open it again but since your job is old this will create a new job in our system. Remember to refresh the content of your job post to keep it up to date.
Why can't I leave an expiring job open?
You can but you might not get many candidates applying but we understand some companies prefer to leave some jobs open like this.
Why does being open for more than 90 days lead to fewer candidates applying?
Candidates can see the date a job was posted and rarely apply to really old jobs. Many job boards and search engines will make old job posts less visible in their platforms.
Does editing the original post reset the posted date?
No. Edits improve content accuracy but do not change the “posted on” date displayed and used by job boards and search engines.
What are the implications for employers who don’t close or refresh their job listings after 90 days?
This will only affect the old jobs but not all your jobs.
